What is the difference between a contact's Matter Role and a Contact Type?
Matter roles are how a contact relates to a Matter. When you assign a contact to a Matter you define how they are related to the Matter, this is their role. Roles can be Opposing Counsel, Other Interested Party, This role is Matter specific and contacts can have different roles in other Matters.
When you are sending out matter related emails, our Smart Suggest feature will show you a list of all these contacts and their roles.
A contact type is how the Contact relates to your firm. Some examples of this are Client, Friend, Networking contact, etc. You can either add a new type, or select one that you have previously added.
